Gautam Gulati, MD,MBA,MPH, Chief Medical & Innovation Officer, SVP Product Management
Dr. Gulati is a different kind of doctor. One that is not yet defined. Although trained to treat patients, he has been combining his diverse experiences, creative juices, and passionate voice to help take on a bigger challenge…to treat our troubled health system.
As a product guy, Dr. Gulati believes we can design our way into a world of better health and wellbeing. Using the world as his stage and followers as his amplified voice, Dr. Gulati always asks the uncomfortable questions and seeks the unreasonable answers. With this focused sense of purpose, he has persevered against the odds and inspires a new level of curiosity to make the impossible, possible.
Currently, Dr. Gulati is the Chief Medical Officer and Head of Product Innovation for Physicians Interactive Holdings, where he leads a world-class team to ideate, design, build, and deploy game-changing solutions for health professionals. In addition to his executive role, he serves as an Adjunct Professor of “Medical Innovation and Entrepreneurship” at Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School.
As an outpost to his academic musings, Dr. Gulati acts as an industry advisor and mentor to a number of change-makers both in and out of the health field through his own private investment and experiment lab. A selection of these include American Express Open, LG Healthcare, Blueprint Health, HealthBox, StartUp Health, Digital Health Coalition, Rhode Island Health & Wellness IDEAS Salon, Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, Columbia Business School, Medikly, and several other start-ups/non-profits. Oftentimes, he can be found at various industry and media events sharing a few words of wisdom and authoring written points of view.
In his recent past, Dr. Gulati served as SVP for Digitas Health, leading the Science & Medicine division of the NYC office. Additionally, he was a Life Sciences strategy consultant with The Frankel Group and Global Medical Director for IntraMed/Sudler & Hennessey. As an entrepreneur, he co-founded Medical Acumen; while, as a physician consultant, he provided strategic recommendations for the FDA as well as for various healthcare related Internet companies, including MDLinx.
Although Dr. Gulati has spent many years in academia learning how to ask the right questions, he firmly believes that education is a lifelong journey that extends beyond the walls of any classroom. He received both his Medical Doctorate (MD) and Masters in Public Health (MPH) degrees from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Public Health; and his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School. He is clinically trained in Internal Medicine from Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Gulati currently resides in the Washington, DC area with his beautiful wife and toddler son; and is expecting a baby girl any day.
