Beyond Gamification: Designing Behaviour Change Games

Moderated by Dustin DiTommaso - Mad*Pow

Digital Health Interventions can only work if people engage with them as designed. Increasingly, “gamification” and game-design is being used to foster volitional engagement with health promotion and maintenance applications. However, many attempts fall flat and don’t produce the desired effect on engagement or outcomes.

This FULL DAY workshop will introduce a modular framework built from primary tenets of motivational psychology, evidence-based behaviour change techniques and game design mechanics and is intended for product teams of 2 or more interested in creating, fixing, or optimizing gameful approaches to behaviour change interventions.

"SHUSH Topics" and the Infamous Unmentionables

Moderated by Pascal Lardier - Health 2.0

We all know what we need to do to lead a healthier life: stop smoking, drink (red wine) with moderation, follow a balanced diet, increase our exercise, manage our stress… So why are we not all following these recommendations? Because life gets in the way of our good intentions in the shape of “umentionables”: caring for a loved one, being in a bad relationship, facing a difficult job situation, desperately trying to get pregnant... This session factors these situations in a more holistic conversation about our health and showcases solutions that help us counter these “unmentionables”.
