Matthew Holt, Co-Founder, spent the 1990s learning from the best to be a health care futurist at Institute for the future, and a survey researcher at Harris Interactive. In the early 2000s he spent time at a PHR start-up, but since he’s been the author of The Health Care Blog, and co-founder of the Health 2.0 Conference —roles for which he was mostly self-taught!
Indu Subaiya, Co-Founder, started her career in health technology assessment at Quorum Consulting and then served as VP of Healthcare at Gerson Lehrman Group, an investment research firm. Most recently she was Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Physic Ventures, where she helped evaluate companies in the consumer health space and incubated a start-up focused on online medical records. When she is not co-producing the Health 2.0 Conference, she applies her producing and directing skills to making film.
Denise Silber, an American in Paris, is the founder of Basil Strategies, eHealth consultants and co-producers of Health 2.0 Europe. An eHealth activist in the US and Europe since the 1990’s, Denise Silber contributed to the execution of the first health web sites, codes of conduct, and the movement for participatory medicine. In 2008, she founded AQIS, a French association for Quality of the Internet in Health care. Also involved in the theme of the quality of care, Denise writes publications for the Institut Montaigne, teaches at Essec business school (she is an HBS MBA) and manages several blogs.
Hillary McCowen is the Customer Experience Manager for Health 2.0, where she is in charge of running registration, sponsorship and customer-service, as well as overseeing all public relations and marketing.
Lizzie Dunklee is Executive Producer at Health 2.0, in charge of running both the speaker, content and production aspects of the conference and running Matthew and Indu’s lives. Though she has a background in mathematics and American history, she seems to have taken to this new sector quite well.
Miles Denison is the Health 2.0 Europe Project Manager at Basil Strategies, dealing with all things international and logistical. British-born Miles currently lives in Paris where he also studied French at the University of London. Miles works closely with many of the major pharmaceutical companies in France and elsewhere in Europe, advancing the movement of e-health on the continent. Miles will be dealing with all the questions you might have, so don’t hesitate to contact him.
John Irvine is the Managing Editor of The Health Care Blog, which he has helped grow into one of the health care blogosphere’s leading brands. He’s also the VP, Business Development for Health 2.0 and still thinks he’s moving back to California some day.

Roberto Ascione – Italy
Roberto Ascione is a healthcare communications professional with a strong experience in digital and new technologies. Since the 1990s, he has been involved in the development of e-health by contributing to the debate about the healthcare transformation through the new communications technologies from both a patient and HCP perspective. Today, Roberto leads Publicis Healthware (member of Publicis Healthcare Group), an international digital healthcare agency with a strong R&D commitment; he is also continuing to support the spread of e-health publishing with a particular focus on e-marketing for pharmaceutical companies, health informatics and web 2.0 Trained as a medical doctor, Roberto holds a Masters degree in Marketing and Communications.
Miguel Cabrer – Spain
Miguel Cabrer is the founder of Medical Exchange MEDTING, a global site for medical exchange of information. Formerly the CIO of Hospital Son Llatzer, the first digital hospital in Europe (European eHealth Award in 2004), he then become the CIO and eHealth Strategy Coordinator for the Balearic Islands Health Department. At present, Miguel Cabrer is an independent eHealth Advisor, Member of the HIMSS EMEA Governing Council and Member of IMIA (International Medical Informatics Association – www.imia.org) Web 2.0 taskforce workgroup defining a Strategic Plan view to 2015. Main areas of specialization of Miguel Cabrer are: Digital Hospital, EHR – RHIO Initiatives, Integration Competence Centers and Health 2.0.
Bart de Witte – Germany and Switzerland
Bart de Witte, a true European and a Senior in the Field of Healthcare IT. Next to being responsible for SAPs strategic development in the healthcare market and some break-through innovations, Bart is a valuable member of SAP’s global Healthcare Council, The Swiss eHealth Summit Advisory Council and founding board member of the Swiss IG eHealth. Since 2 Years Bart acts as a Health 2.0 catalyst & firestarter in Europe. He studied (Ms.Ap.Sc) in Belgium at the Hogeschool Antwerpen and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, and has followed several other post-university tracks at national and international business schools, including Harvard Business School. He resides in Zürich, Switzerland.
Chris Flim – Netherlands
Chris Flim worked for 10 years in Telecom & Media (KPN Dutch Telco & Capgemini) before entering the healthcare market as member of the management team of KNMG (Dutch Doctors Association) responsible for ICT and Internet activities. From 2006 onwards Chris Flim started his own company focusing on eHealth project management & consultancy. He worked on a range of projects (inter)nationally and regionally regarding Telehealth and (e-)Patient services e.g. at Nictiz (Dutch ICT in Healthcare Institute), NPCF (Dutch Patients Federation) and in Europe on Good eHealth & eHealth Strategies. In 2008 he became secretary of the board of the Dutch Association for eHealth & Telemedicine.
Bertalan Mesko – Hungary
Bertalan Mesko, MD graduated from the University of Debrecen, Medical School and Health Science center in 2009 and started PhD in the field of clinical genomics. He is the managing director and founder of Webicina.com LLC, the first web 2.0 guidance service for patients and medical professionals. He speaks at prestigious conferences; covers online international events and is a consultant for pharma and medical companies. Healthspottr.com included him in the Future Health Top 100 list. He is the author of the award-winning medical blog, Scienceroll.com and the educator of the Medicine and Web 2.0 university credit course which is the first of its kind worldwide. He was mentioned in Nature Medicine, British Medical Journal and Wired Science.
Alexander Schachinger – Germany
Alexander Schachinger is currently one of the still few Health 2.0 speakers and researchers in Germany. Parallel to his academic PhD. project started in Spring 2009 on the topic, he conducted the first qualitative e-patient online survey and health website analyses on a national scale. Alexander studied digital media economy in Berlin and Toronto, followed by working for a global pharma company (Berlin Chemie AG) and the Razorfish Agency Network, before he became Health 2.0 addicted.
