Back in the day Steve founded Accordant Health Services, one of the country’s first disease management companies. He also played a pivotal role in founding the Disease Management Association of America, where he was a charter member and served on its board for the first 3 years. But after he sold Accordant (which now lodges in Caremark CVS) Steve realized that disease management was failing because it missed the physician-patient interaction. Phytel has been a remarkable success with really cool software to manage that relationship for many (probably most) big medical groups. Steve will tell you that they’re just getting started.
Neil Versel, Journalist at Uni-Versel Media, has been bringing his quizzical eye to covering health information technology for more than a decade. His work has appeared in InformationWeek, MobiHealthNews, Medscape’s Business of Medicine, Health Data Management and other health IT titles. He also spent a term as editor of FierceHealthIT, FierceEMR and FierceMobileHealthcare although we suspect he’d be as happy covering the Chicago Blackhawks.
