Murray Brozinsky, Healthline – 8th Annual Fall Conference

Murray Brozinsky, Chief Strategy Officer at Healthline answers the tough questions about the current status of the health care system and how his work aims to rectify current barriers to good health.

Big Data Analytics for Population Health

Defined as the health outcomes of a group of individuals, population health has given rise to a flurry of analytic solutions driving hospitals and providers to understand big data in new ways. From visualizing risk to clinical efficiency, these platforms are designed to look beyond the health of one to predict better health for all.

Patients 2.0 Session: Part 2

A dynamic session focused on the patient – doctor interaction with an emphasis on the stories, best practices, and sustainable solutions needed to enhance a successful partnership. The Patients 2.0 session is run by Patients and marshaled by Sarah Krug from the Society for Participatory Medicine.

Around the World Session

NIraj Katwala represented Healthline as the session sponsor. The session began with the “Rising Stars” segment, moderated by Indu Subaiya.  Indu curated a panel focused entirely on a generation of young entrepreneurs in health technology, thus called “rising stars.”  Featured for their progressive technologies was Akhila Satish of CyberDoctor and Pelu Tran of Augmedix.  Akhila  demonstrated CyberDoctor’s new adherence application game, PatientPartner, in which the player can see how certain decisions directly affect their life. Pelu showed how Google Glass is being used in a clinical setting to increase physician facetime with their patients.

Indu then segued into the next portion of the session, introducing the WeightLess Project, with Poonacha Machaiah.  In the WeightLess Project the overweight of the world give to the malnourished.  Beneficial to both groups with opposite problems, “The Weightless Project” brings a certain currency as calorie lost is converted to calorie gained. This project served as a good link to the third part of the session, Around the World: International, which focused on companies and individuals helping the underserved around the world.

The International panel was moderated by James Mathews, the Chairman of the Health 2.0 chapter in India. It featured James Nardella, Mark Friess, and Ravi Kumar as speakers, and demonstrations from Ram Gopalan of Argusoft, James Nardella of the Lwala Community Alliance, and Donato Tramuto of Physicians Interactive.

Healthline: Patients 2.0: Choosing a Partner

For the last 11 years, Niraj Katwala has been responsible for the development of the Healthline Platform. The Healthline Platform consists of Search, Content and Semantic Mappings built on top of Healthline’s proprietary Semantic Taxonomy. This Platform underlies a series of Patient Pathway applications allowing patients and consumers to research their condition, look for treatments and find the appropriate provider for their needs. At Health 2.0 Niraj focused on the Provider Search application that Healthline has built.

Platforms for Partnership: Tools for Patient-Provider Communication (Part II) – Healthline Demo

Danny Sands, Chairman and CEO of Healthline, demos Body Maps. Body Maps is an interactive visual search tool that allows users to explore the human body in 3-D. With easy-to-use navigation, users can search multiple layers of the human anatomy, view systems and organs down to their smallest parts, and understand in detail how the human body works.

Interview with West Shell

West Shell, CEO, Healthline
Running a search engine and content site, an advertising network, and an enterprise software company probably interferes with West’s career as a kayaker, skier and fly fisherman. In the last couple of years, Healthline has become a health destination search engine and content site, an advertising network, and an enterprise software company that works with the likes of Yahoo!, Ask.com, US News & World Report, and UnitedHealth Group. While he’s a Health 2.0 regular, West specifically attended Health 2.0 this year because he’s partnering with both Aetna and GE. While Healthline has been building even more complex online products, they’re now interested in adding to their product lineup and potentially spending some of the $50 million they’ve raised. Healthline also added Yahoo! to its list of customers like Aetna, Ask.com, US News & World Report, UnitedHealth Group and GE, and has been building even more complex online products. They don’t seem to have spent much of that money they raised last year so we hope that West will tell us about his bigger plans for the future.
