Adam Wong is a Management & Program Analyst at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. ONC helps coordinate a nationwide effort to implement and use the mots advanced health information technology and the electronic exchange of health information.

The new health care environment is continually moving into the hands of the individual consumer.  The New Environment for Better Health Care Decisions, co-moderated by Indu Subaiya and Matthew Holt, addressed the issues and benefits of the integration of consumer data with clinical experiences.  Ryan Beckland from Validic introduced the session as a sponsor. The expert panel will provide a brief overview of the latest requirements and agency interpretations. The panel will then discuss some actual examples of security and patient privacy breeches on the web and how they were handled. Practical tips on how to avoid security and patient privacy breeches will be discussed.

This is an opportunity to help shape the thinking on patient safety and innovation. This will be an open forum with leaders at ONC and FDA as they are beginning to develop approaches for a framework for health IT that promotes safety and innovation. Come share your view and learn how you can participate in future discussions.
