Improving and Enriching the Patient-Provider Relationship – Europe 2013

The first panel of the Europe 2013 conference discusses the relationship between the doctor and the patient, and how this interaction is changing with patients’ growing utilization of self management tools. Complimentary perspectives from a local doctor and a patient, as well as 4 tech demonstrations of patient provider relationship tools speak to the changing dynamic.

The New Role of Pharma In Improving Outcomes

Health 2.0 companies have brought in much needed tools to make navigating the Pharma industry easier. With complex databases allowing users greater transparency of drug costs and interactions, as well as new tools for increasing adherence, the world of Pharma is becoming increasingly more user friendly for both patients and doctors alike. Marc Southern of FleishmanHillard presented their research on authenticity and consumer expectation in Pharma followed by 5 companies doing work in Pharmaceutical media, tracking, adherence and more.

 

 

 

Empowering Patients Session – Health 2.0 Europe

This session demonstrated how patient centered tools, technologies and design are helping patients take control over their health for better outcomes and communication with providers. Leaders in the patient movement, Maria Gjerpe and Charlie Young addressed the audience with their research and work in the field of patient empowerment and shared their stories of successfully engaging the health care system as a patient.

 

Valkee Oy – Not Your Mother’s Health 2.0

Valkee Oy uses light therapy to fight seasonal depression. The small handheld device sends light therapy into headphones buds in 12 minute doses. Valkee Oy has found that their therapy not only helps improve seasonal affective disorder but also helps users manage their anxiety as well. Next Valkee Oy hopes to use their tools to address multiple other mood disorders.

 

SnoreLab – Not Your Mother’s Health 2.0

Jules Goldberg demoed the world premier of SnoreLab’s iPad version at Health 2.0 Europe. The app tracks your snoring while you sleep, using multiple algorithms to record and monitor ones snoring. Then in the morning the user is presented with meaningful data on their snoring patterns and encouraged to try different sleeping positions and pre-sleep activities to reduce their snoring. While Goldberg has designed a great tool for sleeping, Health 2.0 thinks the app has a equally valid capacity to save marriages.

NHS Compass – Essential Keys to Navigating the Largest Health Care Provider in the World

With 1.7 million workers across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, the NHS is one of the world’s largest employers. The opportunities for entrepreneurs to be part of the next version of the NHS are real, but the private sector often does not have access to the right people to understand its agenda and rules of engagement. In this session, Tracey and Alex will share essential orientation keys and their one-year plan to open the NHS for business.
