Back for a third time at Health 2.0, Mark Bertolini will discuss how his company is leading the pack in transforming itself from an insurance company to health tech services company, while bringing along its partners — both providers and technology companies — and its customers — employees & consumers. Last year they introduced the iNexx professional platform, and in 2012 they are debuting the CarePass consumer platform. Somewhere in the middle of all that, Aetna had time to buy a Health 2.0 favorite, iTriage, and a small health plan called Coventry. We hope for Pete Hudson’s sake that they cost about the same! Mark’s also going to announce the results of the Aetna CarePass Platform and Medication Reminder Developer Challenge.

Possibly more than any other mainstream insurer Aetna has pursued information technology solutions to health system problems. It’s made big purchases including Active Health Management and Medicity, and been working with a string of Health 2.0 companies like Healthline, and more recently Abilto and Mindbloom.
Employers and insurers have been the sleeping giants of health care. But now they are increasingly active in guiding people they cover in wellness programs and in collaborating on the infrastructure for new delivery models. How are they using Health 2.0 as part of their awakening? This panel was part of the 2011 Health 2.0 conference in San Francisco.
